23 Things Complete

For work we had to do 23 Things which related to Learning 2.0. I created a blog called Useful Software which showcased useful free software you can find on the Internet. When I finally complete the 23 things I am able to get an MP3 player. This blog entry is to complete the list.

"15. Read a few perspectives on Library 2.0 and the future of libraries and blog your thoughts."
I browsed through a few articles on Library 2.0 and I see the library becoming a one stop shop for all information needs covering all mediums and media.

"19. Select any site from the Web 2.0 lists, play with it and write a blog post about your findings."
The site I chose was YouTube. I've been going to You Tube for quite a while and I even have a video hosted there. YouTube was recently purchase by Google for over a billion dollars. I guessing that the things that made YouTube popular will go away when Google finally get its hands on it.

"22. Take a look at the titles available on NetLibrary and download a small title to listen to from the PC. Write a post about the experience for your blog."
Working at the library as the Help Desk I am often asked many questions concerning NetLibrary and audio books. I've download many and listened some I normally wouldn't have.

"23. Summarize your thoughts about this program on your blog."
I think this program has allow some individuals who would not normally venture onto the wacky world wide web an opportunity to learn something and have fun. It also helps to advance the library and librarians to a step or two up the technical ladder.

Fall Season Is In Effect

The new Fall season has already begun and some my favorite shows are back on the air. A couple of new shows also caught my eye. Below is a small rundown on what I’m watching this season.

Must See

Lost – Back with a vengeance. We are starting to see more and more about the “Others” and how the view the events of the plane crash. We already knew these guys were not savages now we see them living in an island suburbia. Looks good so far.

Battlestar Galactica – Actually this starts tomorrow (as of this writing) but it is one of my must see series. I’m a little disappointed that the whole “several years later” scenario is really several years later but I doubt I’m be disappointed with the show on a whole.

The Wire – The only reason I got HBO right now is this show. The season the focus is on education or the lack there of. I really like the spot of the 4 friends, young teens, who we will follow throughout the series. This show gets better every season.

Heroes – As a comic book junkie, this show hits the spot. When I was 17 I starting writing a series of short stories about ordinary people gaining extraordinary abilities. This show is basically my stories on the small screen. I’m loving it.

The Office – When I watch the very first episode of the first season, I thought this show was corny. Fortunately, I gave it another try last season because this is one of the funniest shows on TV.

Shows I’m on the fence with

Jericho – A story about how one town deals with a nuclear attack on the surround cities. I like the concept but so far it’s been lackluster. I definitely don’t like the fact that the black guy is being made to look like he was part of the attack. I’ll watch a another episode or two but I might drop this one.

Survivor: Cook Island – I watch the first show and thought it was alright but I wasn’t plan on watching it again. I recently seen the second episode and it kind of got interesting. I’ll watch another episode and decided whether or not I’ll keep watching.
